The Caozhong Ruins are a municipal-level cultural heritage site in Jinan.

The Caozhong Ruins are located in Caozhongzi Village, Xinshi Town, Jiyang County, dating back to the Shang and Zhou dynasties.

On December 20, 2013, the Caozhong Ruins were designated as part of the fourth batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units by the Jinan Municipal People’s Government.

Xinshi Town is situated in the northwest of Jiyang County, 24 kilometers from the county seat. It borders Linyi County to the west and Shanghe County to the north. The town administers five management areas and 77 administrative villages, covering an area of 99 square kilometers with a population of 38,000. The arable land area is 99,000 mu, averaging 2.5 mu per person. Provincial Highway 249 runs through the entire town, and the town’s road network, consisting of “three verticals, three horizontals, and one ring,” connects to Highway 249 in the east and National Highway 104 in the west, forming an extensive, well-connected transportation system.
