Shuyu Spring

Famous for being the residence of Li Qingzhao, a renowned female poet of the Song Dynasty, the spring derives its name from Li Qingzhao’s collection of poems, *Shuyu Ji* (Collection of Jade Wash). To the north of the spring now stands the Li Qingzhao Memorial Hall, with a couplet that reads: “By Daming Lake, beside Baotu Spring, her former home lies deep in willow shades; in *Shuyu Ji* and *Jinshi Lu*, her literary brilliance echoes the style of the Last Ruler.”

Shuyu Spring is now located within Baotu Spring Park, not far to the northeast of Cang Garden. There, a pool of clear water gushes from the ground like a bright mirror—this is Shuyu Spring, one of the Seventy-Two Famous Springs. The spring is surrounded by willows, with crystal-clear water that reveals the bottom. The water splashes against the stones, producing a murmuring sound like jade being rinsed.
