The “2013 Austronesian Wedding Series – Love Ties to Dawushan” event will be held from March 9 to March 31 across the three northern Pingtung townships of Majia, Sandimen, and Wutai. The opening ceremony will begin with a gunshot in Majia Township, accompanied by the locally distinctive red quinoa wine, kicking off 23 days of joyful wedding-related activities. On March 10, a market event will be organized with indigenous cultural and creative shops, featuring scheduled performances of Paiwan traditional songs and dances for all to enjoy. On the evening of March 16 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Linali Tribe, the “Love & Quinoa Night” for the couples will be held. Newlyweds and guests will celebrate joyfully by uncorking love-brewed red quinoa wine. On March 17, the highlight event — “Love Ties to Dawushan, Vows Under Red Quinoa” — will take place at the Majia Visitor Center. Eight couples will follow the traditional Paiwan noble wedding ceremony, including the betrothal, palanquin procession, and swing riding. Blessed by tribe members, family, and visitors, they will complete a romantic and heartwarming wedding full of happiness.

Centered around the traditional Paiwan wedding ceremony, the Austronesian Wedding is hosted in rotation by the three northern townships of Sandimen, Majia, and Wutai. This year, Majia Township will hold a traditional Paiwan noble wedding for the couples. Members of the Liangshan Tribe will treat the newlyweds like their own children, as the couples set off from their homes and go through various rituals such as proposals, betrothals, and wedding blessing ceremonies to complete their lifelong journey. The organizers will also present gifts such as lucky bags and marriage certificates, ensuring the couples not only have beautiful memories but also leave with generous gifts.

Additionally, from March 1 to the end of March, the organizers are hosting a “Happy Indigenous Photography” photo and microfilm contest, where participants have the chance to win a cash prize of 10,000 NTD.
