The Gamcheon Culture Village in Busan is the largest preserved residential village in South Korea and still home to residents. It is often referred to as the Santorini of Korea (Greece). Ever since the popular Korean variety show "Running Man" filmed an episode here during its Busan special, it has gained immense popularity. Even Taiwanese idol dramas and variety shows have come here to shoot scenes.

Gamcheon Culture Village originated as a refugee settlement during the Korean War in the 1950s, housing up to 4,000 residents at its peak, with over 800 houses built on the hillside. After the war, this area became one of the poorest parts of Busan. Due to a surge in population, residents had no choice but to build houses very close together.

In 2009, the South Korean government began plans to revitalize Gamcheon. With the launch of the "Dreaming of Busan Machu Picchu" project, through the efforts of artists and local residents, a brand-new Gamchan Culture Village was born. It has become not only a must-visit destination for international tourists coming to Busan, but also a top spot for domestic travel among Koreans, earning rave reviews from backpackers as a must-see attraction.
