At noon on February 15, a man in Jinan was injured while hiking near the Great Buddha Head on Qianfo Mountain after slipping on snow. The rescue operation, involving the Kaiyuan Shanzhuang Squadron of the Jinan Public Security Fire Brigade, police from Lixia District, and 120 emergency medical personnel, successfully brought him down after an hour and a half.
At noon on February 15, Lixia police received a sudden distress call: a man was trapped at the mountaintop near the Great Buddha Head. Upon receiving the alert, Lixia police, the Kaiyuan Shanzhuang Squadron of the Jinan Public Security Fire Brigade, and 120 medical staff promptly arrived at the scene to conduct the rescue.
It turned out the man had come to the area for a holiday. Near the summit, he likely slipped on wet snow in a shaded area and fell, injuring his left leg and leaving him immobile. The terrain where he was located was extremely steep and slippery, making a direct descent impossible. Rescuers first had to carry him up to the summit before leading him down via a snow-free route.
“To prevent slipping, we had to secure one end of a rope to a tree to create an artificial handrail,” said a firefighter involved in the rescue. They then tied the other end of the rope to another firefighter who was helping carry the injured man, moving forward while holding onto the rope. “It took us nearly half an hour to cover that short stretch to the summit.”
After carrying the injured man up to the summit, rescuers secured him onto a stretcher and brought him down via a snow-free side of the mountain.
After an hour and a half of effort by the rescue team, the man was successfully brought down and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment by ambulance.
