Quancheng Square

Located in the city center, Quancheng Square is the central square of Jinan. It is a large modern square that integrates cultural entertainment, green leisure, and commercial shopping. To the west lies Baotu Spring, to the south stands Thousand Buddha Mountain, and to the north borders the city moat. The square showcases the city’s skyline to visitors and brings several major attractions that embody the spirit of the Spring City into its visual scope.

The square is rectangular, approximately 780 meters long from east to west and 230 meters wide from north to south, covering an area of 16.7 hectares. From west to east, it mainly consists of Baotu Spring Square, Jinan Celebrities Forest, the Spring Monument Plaza, the Sunken Plaza, Yitian Garden and Children’s Playground, Riverside Plaza, Four Seasons Garden, Lotus Music Fountain, Cultural Corridor, Science & Education Culture Center, and Ginza Shopping Plaza. Quancheng Square epitomizes the "mountain, spring, lake, city, and river" characteristics of the Spring City.

Standing on the square, whether viewing the bustling commercial district and modern architecture nearby, or gazing at the modern cityscape of eastern and southern Jinan with Thousand Buddha Mountain in the background, visitors can feel the vibrant and thriving pulse of the city. The square’s design also emphasizes "spring culture." In the east, there is the Lotus Music Fountain, which transforms into various shapes. Below the Spring Monument in the west are four groups of fountains symbolizing Jinan’s "Four Famous Springs," along with seventy-two small springs representing the "Seventy-Two Famous Springs." Signs for the "Seventy-Two Famous Springs" of Jinan are placed here, allowing visitors to learn about the city’s "spring culture."

The Lotus Music Fountain, located in the eastern part of Quancheng Square, is one of the main attractions. In a circular pool, a giant metal lotus "blooms," with water spraying from both the pool and the lotus, forming numerous fountains of varying sizes, the tallest reaching dozens of meters—a spectacular sight. The Four Seasons Garden is situated on both the southern and northern sides of the square.

The southern garden features mainly herbaceous and perennial flowers, blooming vibrantly in spring, summer, and autumn with a riot of colors; the northern garden combines flowers, grass, and trees, staying lush and green all year round. The Cultural Corridor is located to the east of the Lotus Music Fountain, forming a semicircular arc with the fountain as the center. It is 150 meters long and has three levels.

The corridor houses statues of twelve renowned figures from Shandong, including Emperor Shun, Guan Zhong, Confucius, Sun Wu, Mozi, Mencius, Zhuge Liang, Wang Xizhi, Jia Sixie, Li Qingzhao, Qi Jiguang, and Pu Songling. It also features the “Historical Sites of Sages” composed of 14 relief sculptures. Climbing to the top of the Cultural Corridor offers a panoramic view of the entire Quancheng Square.

Highlights: Spring Monument: A large steel sculpture in the shape of an irregular curved pole, titled “Spring,” stands 38 meters tall and weighs 170 tons. It rises where the square’s main axis intersects with the Bangpeng Street secondary axis. Inspired by the charm of the seal script character for “spring,” its three flowing forms resembling clear springs rise gracefully, aligning perfectly with the creative concept of Jinan’s city emblem.
