The Memorial Temple of Xin Qiji is located on the northwest side of Xiahua Garden, on the southern bank of Daming Lake in Jinan. Also known as the Memorial Temple of Xin Qiji. The original site was the Li Public Temple (dedicated to Li Hongzhang), built in 1904 during the 30th year of the Guangxu reign in the Qing Dynasty. It was renovated and converted into the Memorial Temple of Xin Qiji in 1961, and rebuilt in 1980. Facing south, the temple features a traditional two-courtyard layout in the style of civilian residences. A plaque inscribed with "Memorial Temple of Xin Qiji," written by Chen Yi, hangs above the central gate. The east and west rooms display works of Xin Qiji’s poetry accompanied by paintings. On both sides of the waist gate are covered walkways in the traditional "hand-stroking" style. The main hall has a vaulted roof, and the couplet on the front pillars — "With iron strings and copper zithers, he continues Su Dongpo’s grand ode to the surging river; With his ‘Beautiful Celery’ lament, he hopes the Southern Song won’t flee south like wild geese" — is handwritten by Guo Moruo. In the center of the hall stands a statue of Xin Qiji, and display cabinets exhibit materials about his life, various editions of his representative works, as well as related research and publications.

Xin Qiji (May 28, 1140 – October 3, 1207), courtesy name You’an, art name Jiaxuan, was a renowned general and poet of the Southern Song Dynasty. A representative figure of the bold and unconstrained ci poetry school, he is often mentioned alongside Su Shi as “Su-Xin,” and together with Li Qingzhao as the “Two An’s of Jinan.” His notable works include “Water Dragon Chant · Ascending the Jiankang Joyful Pavilion” and “Everlasting Happiness · Remembering the Ancient Northern Fort at Jingkou.” At just 21 years old, Xin Qiji gathered 2,000 men to rise in rebellion against the Jin. Later, his official career was fraught with setbacks, eventually leading him to live in seclusion in Shangrao.
