Bell Tower Temple Bell Tower Base

The Bell Tower Temple Bell Tower Base is a Shandong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Bell Tower Temple Bell Tower Base is located in Daminghu Subdistrict, Lixia District, Jinan City. It dates back to the Ming Dynasty. The bell tower base ruins are one of the few surviving Ming-era structures in Jinan. The base is square-shaped, with the exterior constructed of brick cladding and the interior made of rammed earth. In October 2008, archaeologists from the Jinan Municipal Institute of Archaeology cleared the ruins of the Bell Tower Temple Bell Tower Base on the north side of Daminghu Road, uncovering column bases, stele pedestals, and staircases.

In 2013, the Bell Tower Temple Bell Tower Base was designated as part of the fourth batch of Shandong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units by the People’s Government of Shandong Province.

Established in December 1962, the office was named after its jurisdiction within the area inside the Dongmen (East Gate) of the old city. According to Document No. Jizheng [2003] 95 issued by the People’s Government of Jinan City and Document No. [2003] 42 issued by the People’s Government of Lixia District, Jinan, it was renamed Daminghu Subdistrict Office on January 1, 2004.
