Fuyan Cultural Tourism Area

The Fuyan Cultural Tourism Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Fuyan Cultural Tourism Scenic Area is located in Ningyang County, Tai'an City. The area aims to promote the culture of Fuyan — which embodies the principles of “self-discipline and a return to propriety, bringing the world to humaneness” — as well as the scholarly diligence, thrift, and perseverance demonstrated by Yan Hui (also known as Yan Zi). It serves as an ideal destination for educational travel and the study of traditional Chinese culture.

In the square in front of the Chinese Studies Hall, a variety of activities are held, including guzheng performances, Han-style dance shows, archery experiences, calligraphy and seal carving workshops, displays and try-ons of Hanfu traditional attire, recitations of classical Chinese texts by children, as well as tea ceremony demonstrations and experiences. Visitors feel as though they have traveled back in time to ancient China, enjoying a journey through the ages.

Yan Hui (521–490 BC), also known as Yan Yuan, courtesy name Ziyuan, was a native of the State of Lu during the late Spring and Autumn period and one of Confucius’s seventy disciples. For most of his life, he lived and studied with Confucius, deeply understanding and embodying the sage’s teachings. Renowned for his humility, eagerness to learn, respect for his teachers, and exceptional moral character, he was later regarded as the foremost among the “Seventy Disciples” and honored as the “Fuyan” (Restorer of Sagehood) of Confucianism.
