Yaohu Lake is the largest inland natural lake in the Nanchang area, covering an area of over 22,000 mu. It is located in the eastern suburbs of Nanchang City, adjacent to Jiangxi Normal University, and forms a continuous chain with the developed Qingshan Lake and Aixi Lake in Nanchang. The Changwan Highway runs through the center of the lake, and it is only nine kilometers from downtown Nanchang Square.

Yaohu Lake has a rectangular shape and is divided from south to north into Upper Yaohu, Middle Yaohu, and Lower Yaohu. The lake basin is flat, the water surface is vast, and the water is crystal clear. In spring and summer, lotus flowers bloom vibrantly, water chestnuts emit fragrance, fish swim playfully, creating an elegant and beautiful scene. In autumn, tens of thousands of rare migratory birds glide over the lake, presenting a delightful scene full of birdsong. In addition, there are eight scenic spots along the lake: the Ming Dynasty-era Feimei Pagoda, Liucheng Temple, Daqing Ancient Temple, Changjiang Ancient Ferry, Longqiao Flowing Water, Ersheng Bright Lamp, Houfu Fishermen’s Song, and the Eight-People-Hugging Camphor Tree, as well as ancient cultural sites from the Neolithic Age to the Shang and Zhou dynasties at Xipi Mountain and Lü Menggang. These elements together create the unique landscape of Yaohu.
