Tea tree mushroom, also known as tea sawdust mushroom or tea mushroom, is recorded in the "General Records of China" as: "The Gan-produced Record of Rarities states that the tea mushroom grows on oil-tea trees. Its mushroom cap is thin and its stem is long. The flavor of the tea mushroom lies in the stem, rich yet with a refreshing note, surpassing other tea mushrooms. Its production is limited and not enough for large shipments." Since ancient times, it has been referred to as the "divine mushroom" among the Hakka people.

The main production area of tea tree mushrooms is Guangchang County, Jiangxi. In 2010, the county cultivated approximately 180 million tea tree mushroom logs, producing about 9.3 million jin (4,650 tons) of dried mushrooms, with an annual total output value of 240 million yuan. Townships (and towns) such as Xujian, Toupi, Chishui, Ganzhu, Tangfang, Shuinan, and Yangxi have many growers, especially in Xujian Town, which serves as the core area and continues to influence surrounding townships (and towns).

With the continuous improvement of people's material living standards, there is a general pursuit of pollution-free, eco-friendly, and green agricultural products in daily life. Guangchang County’s tea tree mushrooms, made from sawdust as the raw material, are relatively tender and crisp, with a good texture, superior product quality, and competitive pricing. As a result, they are very popular. Currently, these products are not only sold in major and medium-sized city markets such as Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Beijing, and Shanghai, but are also exported to Hong Kong, Macau, and Southeast Asian countries such as Japan and Singapore.
