Huangma White Tiger Ridge Scenic Area

White Tiger Ridge is located 42 kilometers from downtown Nanchang and is the only mountainous area in Nanchang County, situated in the Poyang Lake Basin. It lies within Huangma Township of Nanchang County. When viewed from the north, it resembles a dragon meandering across the plain; from the west up close, it looks like a crouching tiger by the water, possessing a unique charm. With a forest coverage rate of 93.1%, the forests conserve water resources. The area has 13 reservoirs with a total capacity of 7.16 million cubic meters. Lush and scenic all year round, the region enjoys a highly harmonious natural ecological environment. Precious and endangered wildlife under national first- and second-class protection thrive in the forest. Five major temples—the Xuyun Chan Temple, Longquan Temple, Fujiang Temple, Helin Temple, and Dizhu Nunnery—along with the Dragon Maiden Gazing at the Starry Sky atop Luosipan Peak, are well-known cultural landmarks. In 2008, the Huangma Cherry Blossom Base hosted the province-wide renowned “2008 China Changnan Rural Tourism Launch Ceremony and Jiangxi (Huangma) Cherry Blossom Festival Launch Ceremony,” heralding the construction of the Huangma Two-Rivers Ecological Corridor. Huangma White Tiger Ridge Scenic Area has become a popular destination for spring outings, summer retreats, autumn hiking, and winter greenery viewing for people within a hundred-mile radius.
