Sanjiang Houwan Ancient Village Scenic Area

Sanjiang Houwan Ancient Village is located in Sanjiang Town, Nanchang County, about 40 kilometers from Nanchang City, the provincial capital. It is a renowned and distinguished village in Nanchang County. Since the reign of Emperor Shenzong of the Northern Song Dynasty, when Wan Di, an ancient Minister of War and patriotic sage, first relocated here, it has a history of over 800 years. The village lies at the junction of four counties, graced by the beauty of the Three Rivers. For generations, it has been known for its flourishing literary culture, producing loyal officials, righteous heroes, and numerous talented individuals. Historical records document as many as 15 successful imperial examination candidates (jinshi) throughout the dynasties. The village features lush trees, fragrant grass, and mirror-like waters, along with scenic sites such as the bronze statue of Minister Wan in Wanfang Garden, the ancient tomb of Minister Wan, the Daoguang-era ancient well, the Gate of Bidafa, the golden list flagpole stones, the Stone Dike Eighteen Slopes, and a cluster of Ming Dynasty residential buildings.
