Youlan Mayou Mountain
The Mayou Mountain Scenic Area is located in Youlan Town, on the eastern outskirts of Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, by the shimmering waters of Qinglan Lake. It lies 20 kilometers from Nanchang, the provincial capital, borders Nanxia Highway to the north, and is just 30 kilometers from Nanchang Changbei Airport. It earned its name when Zhu Yuanzhang and Chen Youliang battled on Poyang Lake and stabled their warhorses here. Covering a total area of 3,000 acres, the mountain is shaded by fruit trees, fragrant with melons and fruits, and is especially known for producing pears, peaches, citrus, chestnuts, and more. In spring, red, yellow, and white blossoms—peach blossoms, rapeseed flowers, and pear blossoms—compete in a vibrant display across the mountain, forming a stunningly beautiful scene. The southern end of the mountain is home to the renowned Buddhist tourist destination, Xianshan Dongchan Temple. Here you’ll find nearly five acres of lush bamboo groves, as well as a thousand-year-old ginkgo tree, a Ming Dynasty osmanthus, and a Qing Dynasty old plum tree, making it a famous scenic spot in the Nanchang area.
