The Sanjiang Shimen Archway is a cultural relic protection unit of Nanchang City.

Introduction:

The Shimen Archway is located in the central part of Shaoli Village Group, Zhushan Village, Sanjiang Town. It faces south, with a relatively large drying ground in front, a large fish pond further south, and residential houses to the east, west, and north. The Shimen Archway was originally the gateway part of an ancient building (the stone bolt remains on the back), but as the original building has been destroyed, only this archway remains. It covers a construction area of 18 square meters.

The Shimen Archway is designed in the style of a two-story pavilion, with walls flaring outward on both sides. It features red stone pillars, the upper parts of which are carved with geometric patterns. At the center of the top of the main gate is a red stone plaque inscribed in intaglio with the characters “流芳刺史” (Flowery Legacy of the Governor) on the left, and vertically inscribed on the right are “赐进士南直督学御史行素饶位书” (Written by Jiangnan Censor and Educational Commissioner Xing Su Rao Wei, Presented Scholar), and on the left “万历己亥冬吉旦玄孙犹道等重立” (Re-erected in the winter of the Ji Hai year of the Wanli era by great-grandson Youdao and others). The structure features brick corbel eaves and layered brackets, with exquisitely carved stone reliefs of dragons, clouds, and human figures that are incredibly lifelike. It serves as a valuable physical resource for the study of late Ming dynasty memorial archway architectural art.
