Introduction:

The Wu Family Ancestral Temple is located about 80 meters north of the Canshi Village Committee in Gangshang Town. It faces east, with a fish pond covering approximately 40 acres situated right in front of its main gate. Behind the temple (to the north) is the village primary school, to the east are rice fields, and about 10 meters to the west are residential houses. The building was originally constructed during the Ming Dynasty's Wanli era and served as the ancestral hall (family temple) for the Wu clan residents of Canshi Village. The structure consists of three courtyards, with the third courtyard being rebuilt in the fifth year of the Republican period (1916). During the Republican era, Wu Yingfu founded the "Chongben Primary School" here. After the liberation, it became the "Canshi Complete Primary School" and was converted to the "Gangshang Middle School" before the Cultural Revolution. It ceased operations in 1990. The entire complex covers an area of 2,400 square meters and features a post-and-lintel wooden frame construction with grayish-blue brick walls. The temple’s entrance gate is imposing, while the second courtyard’s “Cuihuan Hall” and the third courtyard’s “Chongben Hall” exude solemnity. The overall architectural style reflects the late Qing to Republican period.

The Wu Family Ancestral Temple provides valuable physical material for the study of clan heritage and ancestral hall construction art.
