Introduction:

The Ming-Qing Village is situated in Lijia Natural Village, Banhu Village, Guangfu Town (i.e., the entire Lijia Natural Village). According to the genealogy of the Li family and local place-name survey records, the Li family had already resided here during the Tang Dynasty. The ancestors of the Li family in this village settled and multiplied here in order to guard the “Tomb of Prince Yong of the Tang Dynasty.” The full name of Lijia Natural Village is “Yongmu Li Village,” but it was originally called “Shoumu Li Village” (Guardians of the Tomb Li Village).

There are a total of 37 ancient buildings in Lijia Natural Village, 34 of which were built in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. Most feature the "bridle-style" eight-character gateways, typically consisting of two courtyards with four wing rooms or one courtyard with two wing rooms and a rear hall, some with hidden side passageways. The structures are generally built with brick-wood frames and post-and-lintel wooden beams. Those with two courtyards, four wing rooms, and a rear hall are usually 30 meters long and 14 meters wide; those with one courtyard and two wing rooms are generally 20 meters long and 13 meters wide. The houses in the village are arranged in a crescent shape, facing east with their backs to the west, covering a total area of about 22,000 square meters. Notably, the gateways of the two “Da Fu Di” (Noble Houses) are well preserved.
