The Bagang Site is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Jiangxi Province.

Introduction:

The Bagang Site (i.e., Bagang Forest Farm in Sanjiang Town) is located about 3 kilometers northwest of the Jima Street in Sanjiang Town, Nanchang County. It borders a tributary of the Fu River to the east and is surrounded by rice fields on the other three sides. The Bagang Site is a small hill, about 4–5 meters higher than the surrounding rice paddies, with economic trees such as citrus and chestnuts planted across the slope.

The Bagang Forest Farm in Sanjiang Town covers an area of over 30,000 square meters. Several years ago, during the excavation of tree pits, stone knives, stone sickles, stone axes, stone adzes, stone arrowheads, and pottery shards with various patterns from the late Neolithic Age to the Shang Dynasty were frequently discovered. Moreover, multiple accumulations of clam shells were found along the banks of the Fu River at the foot of the hill.

Based on physical evidence, this site is identified as being from the late Neolithic Age to the Shang Dynasty.

On January 10, 2005, the People’s Government of Nanchang County listed it as a cultural heritage site under the fourth batch of Nanchang County Cultural Relics Protection Units.

On December 29, 2011, the People’s Government of Nanchang City listed it as a cultural heritage site under the fourth batch of Nanchang City Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Sanjiang Town: Sanjiang Town is one of the few ancient towns in Jiangxi Province with a history of over a thousand years. It is also a pilot town for comprehensive reform in Jiangxi Province and has been designated as a key demonstration town for the construction of a new socialist countryside in the province. Located in the southeast of Nanchang County, it borders Huangma Township to the east, DuanTan Township of Fengcheng City to the west, YuanDu Township of Fengcheng to the south, and Guangfu Town to the north. It is historically also known as Sanjiangkou because it sits at the confluence of three tributaries of the Fu River: Jian River, Yinxi River, and Pengxi River. The town covers an area of 29.2 square kilometers, governs 9 village committees, 96 natural villages, and 2 neighborhood committees.
