The Majing Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Nanchang County.

Introduction:

The Majing Site is situated on Majing Mountain, about 200 meters east of Miaojiang Natural Village, Shatan Village, Xiangtang Town, with the Second Main Canal of the Ganfu Plain to the west. The entire Majing Mountain is within the site boundary, spanning an area of approximately 60,000 square meters. During the first cultural relics survey, an area of around 900 square meters with relatively concentrated remains was identified, featuring varying thicknesses of cultural deposits. Broken stone tools and pottery shards were commonly found on the ground surface. Among the stone artifacts, stone axes, adzes, spades, arrowheads, and pestles were frequently encountered, typically characterized by elongated shapes in medium or small sizes. Pottery items mainly consisted of fragments from daily-use vessels such as tripods, cauldrons, dou (stemmed bowls), and jars, along with secondary finds like pottery spinning whorls and net sinkers used in production. Pottery decorations included cloud-thunder patterns, grid patterns, string patterns, circle patterns, and various composite designs, while rope patterns were rare.

During a re-examination in October 2005, numerous pottery fragments were still discovered at the site, along with a complete segmented stone adze.
