Dizang Temple, located in Nanchang, Jiangxi, is situated about one kilometer north of Youlan Town in Nanchang County. It was built during the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1595 AD). At that time, Wan Xinglong, the twelfth-generation descendant of Zongdao from Dongtian Village, became prosperous. Since his mother was a devout Buddhist, he decided to build a temple for her as an expression of gratitude. Noticing the seven interconnected ponds behind the village—referred to as the “Seven Stars Around the Moon”—he found the scenery beautiful and the feng shui excellent. He then hired skilled craftsmen to construct a temple named “Xinglong An.” Monks were invited to preside over the temple, which soon became a bustling place of worship and flourished for a time, attracting worshippers from nearby regions.
