Xiuyu Pingyang Residence

The Xiuyu Pingyang Residence is a cultural heritage site protected by Nanchang County.

The Xiuyu Pingyang Residence is located in the southern part of Dongwan Natural Village, Tacheng Village, Tacheng Township, Nanchang County. It is a building constructed during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, featuring the typical residential architectural style of the Nanchang area. The residence faces south and has a width of 11.5 meters and a depth of 15 meters, covering an area of 173 square meters. It features an exterior of blue bricks, a red stone door frame, carved red stone floral brackets under the lintel, and a plaque inscribed with “Xiuyu Pingyang” embedded above the lintel. On both sides are door hoods composed of red stone brackets and diagonal braces. The first bay features a post-and-lintel wooden structure, while the main hall, which is accessed through the courtyard, also has a post-and-lintel wooden structure. Some wooden components such as hanging pillars, diagonal braces, and decorative windows are gilded, giving the building a magnificent appearance. It serves as an important physical reference for the study of residential architecture from the same period.

The southern side of the residence is open land, to the west across another residence lies the Qingze Liufang Archway, a cultural heritage site protected by Nanchang County, while the eastern and northern sides are surrounded by other residences.

On May 7, 2010, the Nanchang County People’s Government listed it as part of the fifth batch of Nanchang County Cultural Heritage Protection Units.
