Yihelu and Rulin Mansion Residential Houses

Yihelu and Rulin Mansion Residential Houses are cultural heritage conservation units of Nanchang County.

“Yihelu and Rulin Mansion Residential Houses” are located in Yangjiashan Natural Village, Baicheng Village, Huangma Township, Nanchang County. They are jointly listed as cultural heritage conservation units due to their close proximity.

“Yihelu Residential House” faces east and covers an area of 250 square meters. It features a bluish-gray brick exterior, a flush-gable roof, and a plaque reading “Yihelu” above the main gate. The structure has two courtyards in total, both two stories high, built with a post-and-lintel wooden frame. The first courtyard after entering has a false screen wall, and staircases on either side lead upstairs to the embroidery room of the front building via the surrounding corridors. The central hall has five pillars and four bays, with drum-shaped upper and octagonal lower stone bases under the pillars. The rear wing has four pillars and three bays, with carved wooden lintels on two levels between the pillars. A short pillar in the middle of the upper lintel supports the floor joist, and the spaces between the lintels feature ink paintings on white backgrounds. This building boasts exquisite carvings and delicate ink paintings, making it an important physical resource for studying mid-Republican-era residential architecture.

“Rulin Mansion Residential House” faces east and covers an area of 235 square meters. It features a bluish-gray brick exterior, a flush-gable roof, and a plaque reading “Rulin Mansion” above the main gate. The structure has two courtyards in total, both two stories high, built with a post-and-lintel wooden frame. The first courtyard after entering has staircases on either side that lead upstairs to the embroidery room of the front building via the surrounding corridors. The central hall has five pillars and four bays, with drum-shaped stone bases under the pillars. The rear wing has four pillars and three bays, with carved wooden lintels on two levels between the pillars, and ink paintings on white backgrounds in the spaces between them. This building features exquisite carvings, a uniquely designed embroidery room, and is largely well-preserved, making it an important physical resource for studying mid-Republican-era residential architecture.

“Yihelu Residential House” is located at No. 17, Yangjiashan Natural Village, Baicheng Village. To the east is a roughly 2-meter-wide flagstone alleyway, with residential houses on the other side. To the north, it connects to “Yihelu” through the mostly ruined “Sijiaolou.” To the west is a large open space, and to the east is a residential house across a small path. About 300 meters northeast is Baicheng’s commodity distribution market. “Rulin Mansion Residential House” is located at No. 18, Yangjiashan Natural Village, Baicheng Village. To the east is a roughly 2-meter-wide flagstone alleyway, with residential houses on the other side. To the south, it connects to “Yihelu” through the mostly ruined “Sijiaolou.” To the west is a large open space, to the north is a residential house, and to the east is another residential house. About 300 meters northeast is Baicheng’s commodity distribution market.

On May 7, 2010, the Nanchang County People's Government listed it as part of the fifth batch of Nanchang County Cultural Heritage Conservation Units.
