Tu Changquan Residence

The Tu Changquan Residence is a cultural heritage site protected by Nanchang County.

The “Tu Changquan Residence” is situated on the west side of Donggao Tu Family Natural Village, Donglian Village, Youlan Town, Nanchang County. It faces south and occupies an area of 265 square meters. It is a two-courtyard, single-skylight, post-and-lintel wooden structure building built in the late Qing Dynasty. The main gate is adorned with a decorative gate hood constructed from red stone brackets and struts. Upon entering, visitors can see an elaborately carved wooden entryway, with all lattice panels featuring carvings, and... The stone bases under the columns are round and also intricately carved. A small side door has been added on the west side of the main gate for separate access. On the east side outside the main gate, a new structure has been erected, and the western wing room of the front courtyard has been so extensively modified that its original appearance is completely lost. However, the main wooden structure remains largely unchanged, though some wooden components have been damaged. Both the wood carvings and stone carvings are exquisitely crafted, making the residence a valuable reference for the study of late Qing Dynasty residential architecture.

To the west of the “Tu Changquan Residence” lies a relatively large open area, while the south side is bordered by a village path. The east and north sides are adjacent to other village residences.

On May 7, 2010, the Nanchang County People's Government designated it as a Cultural Heritage Site in the fifth batch of Nanchang County Protected Monuments.
