Wolu Villa

Wolu Villa is a cultural heritage site protected by Nanchang County.

“Wolu Villa” is situated in the western part of Dongwan Natural Village, Tacun Village, Taxiang Township, Nanchang County. It was originally constructed in the early Republican era (around the 1920s), faces south, and measures 12 meters in width and 17.5 meters in depth, with a total area of 210 square meters. The exterior is finished with blue bricks, and it has an eight-character main gate with a red stone door frame. Below the lintel are carved floral brackets, and above is embedded a plaque inscribed “Wolu Villa,” flanked by stone carvings of figures on either side and decorated with stone-carved mythical beasts at the top and bottom, showcasing exquisite ornamentation. The first section after entering the gate is a two-story structure with a post-and-lintel wooden frame, featuring carved patterns between the beams. The central area of the first section includes a removable-door foyer, typically entered from the sides. The wing rooms on both sides of the courtyard are fitted with geometric patterned wooden windows, while the main hall, accessed through a cross passage, is a two-story post-and-lintel wooden structure adorned with carved decorations between the beams. The columns rest on octagonal bases. This building is representative of its time and plays an important role in the study of architecture from the Republican period.

In front of “Wolu Villa” lies an open space of about 150 square meters. To the south of the open space is a newer house, with village paths to the east and west, and ordinary residences located approximately 5 meters to the north.

On May 7, 2010, the Nanchang County People's Government designated it as a Cultural Heritage Site under the fifth batch of protections by Nanchang County.
