Chuanjing Shixu Residence

The Chuanjing Shixu Residence is a cultural relic protection unit of Nanchang County.

The “Chuanjing Shixu Residence” is situated in the central part of Donggao Tujia Natural Village, Donglian Village, Youlan Town, Nanchang County. It is a brick-and-wood structure building facing south, covering an area of 216 square meters. The main gate is adorned with a decorative architrave constructed from red stone brackets and pillars, and above the gate is a plaque inscribed with “Chuanjing Shixu.” The crossbeams of the side rooms on either side of the entrance feature finely carved lattice work. An entryway with a central door leads to the courtyard, with lower stone walls and upper lattice windows on the side rooms flanking the courtyard. Before entering the central hall through the courtyard, there is a wooden threshold equipped with eight lattice-panel doors. The central hall has two stories, with carved lattice designs on the beams featuring exquisite patterns. The bases of the pillars are made of carved red sandstone. Both the stone and wood carvings are highly refined, offering significant reference value for the study of late Qing Dynasty residential architecture.

To the west of the “Chuanjing Shixu Residence” is a cement path in the village, with residential houses on the other side of the path. The east and north sides are also surrounded by residences, while the south side is open, with rice fields about 10 meters away.

On May 7, 2010, the People’s Government of Nanchang County designated it as a Cultural Relic Protection Unit in the fifth batch of Nanchang County Cultural Relics.
