The Gate Tower of the Dafu Mansion

The Gate Tower of the Dafu Mansion is a cultural relic protection unit of Nanchang County.

The “Gate Tower of the Dafu Mansion” is located in the central area of Houfangwan Village, Xiyi Village, Wuyang Town, Nanchang County. It is a brick, stone, and wood-structured main gate tower of Houfangwan Village, rebuilt in the 21st year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty. Facing south and situated to the north, (excluding the new eight-character side walls), it is 8 meters wide, with a front porch that is 2 meters deep and a rear room that is 3 meters deep. The outer eaves stand 4.67 meters high, and it covers an area of 40 square meters. The gate tower features exquisite carvings, and above the door hangs a plaque inscribed with “Dafu Mansion.” It is a rare, largely intact main gate tower that holds certain reference value for the study of gate tower architecture and wood carving craftsmanship in the Nanchang region.

The front of the “Gate Tower of the Dafu Mansion” faces the village square to the south, offering a wide view. On both sides of the gate tower are ordinary residential houses, and the northern sides of the passageway behind the gate tower are also lined with common residences. The main wooden structure and stone pillars are largely intact, but the gable walls and eight-character side walls have been altered in appearance after renovation.

On May 7, 2010, the People's Government of Nanchang County listed it as part of the fifth batch of Nanchang County Cultural Relic Protection Units.
