Gongwan Residential House

The Gongwan Residential House is a cultural heritage site protected by Nanchang County.

The “Gongwan Residential House” is situated in the central part of Gongwan Natural Village, Qianjin Village, Wuyang Town, Nanchang County. It is a building from the Republican era, facing south with a width of 11 meters and a depth of 16 meters, covering a total area of 176 square meters. The exterior walls are made of grayish-blue bricks, and above the main gate is a carved red stone floral door hood. Inside, it features a two-courtyard wooden structure modeled after the Daoguang style with through-tenon joinery. Above the central hall is a rectangular false caisson ceiling, and the upper floor has two levels with a red stone-paved courtyard. The wooden components at the entrance have been lost, and some carved decorative elements are missing. This building is of significant importance for the study of residential architecture during the Republican period.

In front of the Gongwan Residential House is an open space, while the other three sides are surrounded by ordinary residences.

On May 7, 2010, the Nanchang County People’s Government listed it as part of the fifth batch of Nanchang County Cultural Heritage Protection Units.
