Pengcheng Yuxiu Residential House

The Pengcheng Yuxiu Residential House is a cultural heritage site protected by Nanchang County.

The “Pengcheng Yuxiu Residential House” is situated in the central part of Nanliu Natural Village, Liufang Village, Youlan Town, Nanchang County. It is a residential building built in the first year of the Xianfeng reign during the Qing Dynasty (1851). The structure faces east, spans 18 meters in width and 16 meters in depth, and covers an area of 288 square meters. The exterior walls are made of blue bricks, with a red stone door frame. Above the door is a plaque inscribed with “Pengcheng Yuxiu,” flanked by door knockers. The interior wooden structure follows the post-and-lintel system, consisting of two courtyards. The first courtyard includes an entrance hall. There is one central courtyard and one rear garden. The side rooms on either side of the front courtyard do not touch the walls, leaving a small “tiger-eye” courtyard space between them. The wooden beams and brackets inside are plain, while the decorative doors and windows are exquisitely carved. The beam supports in the main hall feature spindle-shaped pillars, and the rear central part of the main hall houses a shrine. The bases of the pillars are made of red stone. This building is finely carved and serves as an important physical resource for the study of Qing Dynasty residential architecture.

In front of the “Pengcheng Yuxiu Residential House” is a stone-paved path in the village, lined with ordinary residences on both sides.

On May 7, 2010, the Nanchang County People's Government designated it as a Cultural Heritage Site in the fifth batch of Nanchang County Protected Monuments.
