Qian Guantian Vernacular Dwelling

The Qian Guantian Vernacular Dwelling is a cultural relic protection unit of Nanchang County.

The “Qian Guantian Vernacular Dwelling” is located at No. 79, Qian Guantian Natural Village, Guantian Village, Huangma Township, Nanchang County. It faces south (slightly east, 20°), is 12 meters wide, 12.8 meters deep, and covers an area of 154 square meters. It features grayish-blue brick walls, a flush-gable roof, a red stone door frame, and a red stone overhanging lintel canopy. The interior has a one-and-a-half bay post-and-lintel wooden structure, with the main hall being two stories high. The lime-plastered walls in the horizontal passageway between the wing rooms and the main house feature several ink paintings signed “Xinhai Chunyue,” believed to have been created in 1911. Under the beams of the main hall, there are several geometric decorative ink paintings. The wing rooms are adorned with lattice windows featuring geometric patterns. The bases of the pillars are carved stone plinths. In front of the dwelling is a small open space, with ordinary vernacular houses across small alleys on both sides, and another residence about 10 meters behind it.

The construction date of this building is accurate, making it an important reference for studying late Qing dynasty vernacular architecture.

On May 7, 2010, the People’s Government of Nanchang County designated it as part of the fifth batch of Nanchang County Cultural Relic Protection Units.
