Qingze Liufang Archway

The Qingze Liufang Archway is a cultural relic protection unit of Nanchang County.

The “Qingze Liufang Archway” is situated in the southern part of Dongwan Natural Village, Tacheng Village, Tacheng Township, Nanchang County. It is a village main gate archway constructed in the 11th year of the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1583). The archway faces south and has an eight-character (fan-shaped) layout, measuring 14.6 meters in width and 7 meters in depth, covering an area of approximately 100 square meters. The main body of the archway is built from red stone, featuring four pillars and three bays, with blue brick imitation arches and corbelled eaves, as well as a two-story, three-bay pavilion-style roof. The central part of the archway is inscribed with the four characters “Qingze Liufang” (Auspicious Virtue Flows Far), with smaller vertical characters on the right reading “Autumn, Auspicious Day, 11th Year of Wanli” and on the left “Inscribed by Daoxian, Minister of Personnel.” The archway also features carvings of theatrical figures and floral designs. It is of value for the study of Ming Dynasty stone archways and carving art.

To the south of the “Qingze Liufang Archway” lies a large open space, and about 30 meters further south is a large pond. Residential houses flank both sides of the archway, which also serves as the main pathway through the village. On either side of the path behind the archway are newly built residences.

On May 7, 2010, the People’s Government of Nanchang County designated it as a Cultural Relic Protection Unit in the fifth batch of Nanchang County Cultural Relics Protection Units.
