Sanjiang Pearl Pagoda

The Sanjiang Pearl Pagoda is a cultural relic protection unit of Nanchang City.

The "Pearl Pagoda" is located about 300 meters west of Caijia on Nanjie in Sanjiang Town, Nanchang County (on the inner side of the embankment of a tributary of the Fu River). The western side of the pagoda is adjacent to the embankment, while the eastern side is a dry farmland vegetable plot.

This pagoda was built in the early years by local villagers to subdue the waters. It is a five-tier, hexagonal structure made of blue bricks. In the early days, the base of the pagoda was buried within the embankment. In September 1996, the buried section was excavated, revealing its true form. The Pearl Pagoda covers an area of 6 square meters. Its eaves are constructed using the corbeling technique, featuring six upturned corners. Originally, each upturned corner was adorned with a bronze bell, which were later destroyed (but have been restored after renovation). Each level inside the pagoda is separated by bluestone slabs. The Pearl Pagoda provides important physical evidence for the study of brick pagoda construction art in the early Qing Dynasty.

On October 27, 1983, the Nanchang County People's Government listed it as one of the first batch of key cultural relic protection units.

On December 10, 1985, the Nanchang Municipal People's Government designated the "Pearl Pagoda" as one of the first batch of cultural relic protection units of Nanchang City in Document No. Hong Zheng Fa [1985] 72.
