Caijia Iron Tile House

The Caijia Iron Tile House is a cultural relic protection unit of Nanchang County.

The Caijia Iron Tile House is located to the west of Caijia Natural Village, Nanjie Village, Sanjiang Town, Nanchang County. In 1941, the Nationalist government of Nanchang County relocated to Caijia in Nanjie. In 1942, Japanese invaders advanced southward and occupied the area, destroying three-quarters of the village's buildings. After Japan's surrender, Cai Fangyin, a world-renowned bridge expert from Caijia in Nanjie, served as the Industrial Technology Advisor for the Jiangxi Provincial Relief and Rehabilitation Office. During that time, he applied to the U.S. government for special funds and oversaw the construction of the Caijia Iron Tile House in 1946.

The uniqueness of the Caijia Iron Tile House lies in its roof, which is made of thick iron sheets pressed into corrugated, semi-circular tiles. The structure has brick walls and consists of two floors internally, with a wooden staircase leading to the upper level. The ground floor is currently used as a classroom, while the upper floor remains largely unused.

The building features a unique architectural style and serves as an important example for the study of foreign-influenced architecture.

Just 3 meters to the north (rear) of the Caijia Iron Tile House is the "Xianda Ancestral Hall," a cultural relic protection unit of Nanchang County. To the west, across an open space of about 20 meters, is a newly built temple, and approximately 300 meters further west is the "Zhuzi Pagoda," a cultural relic protection unit of Nanchang City. The eastern side consists of residential houses, and about 1,000 meters east of the village is the Xiang-Le Railway.

On May 7, 2010, the Nanchang County People's Government listed it as part of the fifth batch of Nanchang County Cultural Relic Protection Units.
