Chihu Leisure Resort

Chihu, located in the northwest of Jiujiang County, at the junction of Jiujiang and Ruichang cities (county-level), is one of the top ten freshwater lakes in Jiujiang City and ranks first among them. It covers an area of 80,000 mu, with a maximum area of 120,000 mu. Dashan Island is situated in the center of Chihu and consists of three islands: Dashan Island, Zhongshan Island, and Xiaoshan Island, surrounded by water on all sides, covering an area of about 500 mu. About 500 meters east of Dashan Island lies a polder called Xujia Zhou, covering an area of 450 mu, including 330 mu of fish ponds.

The three small islands—Dashan, Zhongshan, and Xiaoshan—in the center of Chihu are aligned in a row. Dashan, named Lion Mountain due to its resemblance to a reclining lion, is said to be where Zhang Liang, a meritorious official of the Western Han Dynasty, retired in his later years.

Chihu is abundant in various high-quality aquatic products, making it a natural "fishing harbor." Dashan Island, nestled in the center of the lake and connected to Zhongshan Island and Xiaoshan Island, is also a natural resort destination. The scenic area is planned to include the following developments:

(1) Given Chihu’s wealth of premium aquatic products, a "Chihu Fish Harbor" dining center will be built on the 10,000-mu water area.

(2) The fish ponds on Xujia Zhou will be renovated into a swimming pool.

(3) Several gateball courts will be constructed on the southern extension of Dashan Island.

(4) A natural swimming pool will be built.

(5) A 120-mu fishing center, also referred to as a leisure fishery center, will be established on Xujia Zhou.

(6) A circular sightseeing cableway will be built from Dashan to Lianshan Zui to Zhongshan.
