Matsu not only boasts the world-renowned natural wonder of the Blue Tears but also features a variety of hidden, dreamy seaside spots. Here are six nature-themed spots where you can take stunning photos and enjoy a healing getaway this weekend.

The Blue Tears of Matsu are considered a world-class spectacle and can be described as one of those must-see destinations in a lifetime. When the Blue Tears season arrives, Beihai Tunnel in Nangan, Matsu, holds an annual night event where visitors can walk into the pitch-dark tunnel to admire the shimmering blue starry sea.

Once home to residents and military personnel, Daqiu Island is now the only uninhabited island in Matsu that visitors can explore. Its figure-eight-shaped island loop trail offers breathtaking panoramic views, and it's not hard to spot sika deer along the way. Most of the deer roam in groups, with only a few males seen alone. When two herds meet, dozens of deer can be seen standing before you — an awe-inspiring sight no matter the distance.

Although Beishan is the highest peak in Matsu, it stands only 298 meters tall, making it a great trail for beginner hikers. There is an observation deck partway up the mountain that offers sweeping views of the seascape and mountains. From here, you can see Beigan Airport, Tangqi, and Houwo, as well as nearby uninhabited islands such as Daqiu and Xiaoqiu.

Located next to Beigan Airport and connecting the villages of Tangqi and Houwo, this sandbar is usually only visible as a small path at high tide. When the tide goes out, the sandy beaches on both sides emerge, creating a uniquely scenic “connected island” landscape. The sand here is pristine and clean, and locals even call it “sugar sand.”
