"Bang!" With the crisp sound of the starting gun, over 170 mountain bikers and more than 130 hiking enthusiasts dashed toward the mountaintop like arrows released from a bow... At 1:00 p.m. on January 1st, the "Liwimei Cup" mountain biking and hiking summit competition among the bordering counties and cities of the three provinces of Hunan, Hubei, and Jiangxi officially kicked off in the picturesque Fushou Mountain, Pingjiang County, Hunan Province.
Pingjiang boasts beautiful scenery, lush forests, and abundant natural outdoor sports resources. The Fushou Mountain National Scenic Area, with its towering peaks and dense woods, features typical mountainous forest landscapes and climate. Its highest peak reaches nearly 1,600 meters above sea level, making it suitable for low-carbon aerobic activities such as mountain biking and hiking to the summit. For this competition, only a 10.68-kilometer section was selected as the racecourse. In early December 2011, Pingjiang County issued challenges to outdoor sports enthusiasts across the three provinces through official documents, online registrations, and association communications. Within just 20 days, over 300 outdoor sports experts from nine counties (cities) including Tongcheng, Xiushui, Liuyang, and Xiangyin gathered in Pingjiang.

The mountain biking event was divided into men’s youth, men’s middle-aged and senior, and women’s groups, with rankings determined by individual finish times. The hiking group was a team event, with four members per team, including at least one female. Team rankings were based on the time taken to reach the summit. After intense competition, Chen Kai from the Pingjiang Giant Cycling Team, Cao Jiancheng from the Liuyang Starting Point Cycling Team, Yuan Wei from the Liuyang Starting Point Cycling Team, and the Pingjiang No.1 High School Hiking Team stood out, winning first place in their respective categories.
