Kangda Memorial Area

The Kangda Memorial Area is the soul of Qian'nanyu. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by the grand Kangda Memorial Hall, the towering Kangda Monument, and vivid group statues of Kangda students. In November 1940, the Chinese People’s Anti-Japanese Military and Political University relocated here from Yan’an, leaving behind the revolutionary footsteps of leaders such as Liu Shaoqi, Zhu De, Peng Dehuai, Luo Ruiqing, He Changgong, and Kangda students who lived, studied, and fought here. The Kangda Memorial Hall displays numerous photos and artifacts chronicling the university’s 14-year history from its founding in 1936 to the establishment of New China. Inside, the precious relics offer a subtle yet profound patriotic and revolutionary education, while the spirit of hard work and sacrifice permeates the atmosphere. Designated a National Patriotic Education Base by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the site also proudly displays a “National Defense Education Base” plaque inscribed by Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission   and gleaming under the sunlight.

Ecological Sightseeing Area

The Ecological Sightseeing Area is the essence of Qian'nanyu. Strolling along tree-lined paths fragrant with flowers, visitors encounter diverse chestnut trees, blooming apple orchards in spring, and fruit-laden branches in autumn. Captivating hawthorn trees, robust oak trees, and a variety of named and unnamed wildflowers create harmonious and picturesque scenes, drawing people into nature’s embrace and easing worldly worries. With a vegetation coverage rate of 94.7%, Qian'nanyu was nominated for the UN’s “Global 500” environmental award and hailed by experts as the greenest place in the Taihang Mountains.

The Wanbang Treasure Fruit Garden is the highlight of Qian'nanyu. The words “Recreating a Beautiful Landscape,” spelled out with evergreen cypress trees, embody the indomitable spirit and relentless efforts of Qian'nanyu’s people. From Zehou Pavilion, visitors gaze upon the impressive terraced fields, a testament to human perseverance. The colorful foreign fruits—American Kate apricots, red grapes, Ukrainian cherries, Australian autumn red peaches, European hazelnuts, and American ginseng—offer a glimpse of global diversity. During harvest season, picking and tasting these fruits provides a unique multicultural experience.

Huashan Scenic Area

Walking along a locust-shaded path leads to Lian Dan Gorge, the gateway to Huashan (Sitting-into-Mountain) Scenic Area. The gorge is steep and winding, ascending like a path to the heavens, perfect for rock climbing and challenging adventures. After climbing 198 steps and navigating 18 winding turns, then ascending 108 meters, visitors reach the Jingxin Platform and Wenchang Pavilion atop Huashan.

Huashan Mountain features steep and unique terrain, standing 1,024 meters above sea level. From the summit, fatigue fades as the breathtaking view of surrounding peaks—Bijia Mountain, Axe-Cleaved Peak, Junzhai Mountain, Taizi Peak, Liuzhi Mountain, and Dazhai Mountain—inspires awe and vitality. The mountain is covered by an 800-acre pine forest bathhouse, acting as a vast oxygen bar. The negative-ion-rich air among the green sea of pines refreshes the mind and body. The pine forest offers not only health benefits but also poetic experiences like listening to the wind in the pines, bird songs, and moonlight filtering through the trees. Legend says Huashan was formed when the deities of literature and martial arts, Wenchang and Wushu, carved the landscape during their spiritual retreat.
