From July 9 to 27, two primary school students from Xingtai, Xie Pingyun and Xie Pingran, hiked 400 kilometers to Beijing, raising nearly 7,000 yuan for underprivileged students along the way, drawing widespread attention. According to Pingyun’s father, Xie Aimin, this was not only a public welfare initiative but also a “home education experiment.”
On the afternoon of August 3, 11-year-old Xie Pingyun and his 13-year-old cousin Xie Pingran trotted all the way home. “We met a tutor on the road who asked if we wanted to attend classes,” said Pingyun, his little face flushed and breathing heavily. “He said he saw us on TV and that we could attend classes for free,” added Pingran.
Xie Aimin, sitting on the sofa, burst out laughing upon hearing this. This wasn’t the first time the brothers had been recognized on the street since the end of their hiking journey.
