"Air quality" in mainland China has always been an important consideration for many travelers. According to data released by China's Ministry of Environmental Protection, among the 74 major cities in China this June, the 10 cities with the worst air quality (ranked 74th to 65th) were Tangshan, Xingtai, Handan, Jinan, Baoding, Zhengzhou, Taiyuan, Langfang, Hengshui. Among them, Beijing and Tianjin—cities that travelers often visit—tied for 65th place (second from the bottom).
In contrast to the cities at the bottom of the air quality rankings, 10 cities including Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Haikou, Xiamen, Shenzhen, Jiangmen, Zhoushan, Huizhou, Nanning, and Lishui ranked among the top 10 for best air quality. This monitoring session covered the air quality conditions of the nation as a whole, as well as the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, and Pearl River Delta regions, along with municipalities and provincial capital cities, in June. In Beijing, the proportion of days with good or excellent air quality was 36.7%, with the main pollutants being O3 (ozone) and PM2.5.
