Just as I was wondering where to take the kids for a meal during the holiday, I happened to spot a newly opened family restaurant online. Reservations are always hard to get, but finally, with a friend’s help, I managed to book a slot. With the hot weather, staying indoors with air conditioning is a better way to avoid heatstroke. So I quickly took the kids to experience this amazing family restaurant and share with everyone what makes it so unique.

The restaurant is located on Xinpu 8th Street in the Arts and Culture District. There are plenty of roadside parking spots and parking lots nearby, though you might need to walk a bit to find them. Every corner is filled with childlike fun, and the exterior decorations are adorable—resembling a kindergarten or daycare center.

We booked a dinner slot. By the time we arrived, there were already quite a few parents and children seated at the back. When the kids found out there were things to play with, they were absolutely thrilled. The restaurant has two floors with not many seats—the majority of the space is dedicated to children’s play facilities, which explains why it’s so hard to get a reservation.

At the entrance stands a whimsical flying horse, as if ready to take off at any moment, leading the children into this magical world. The two kids were full of curiosity.

A row of Totoros greets every guest at the counter, and cute elements are scattered throughout the restaurant.

The green-themed wall gives off a natural vibe. The restaurant’s theme revolves around animals and forests, with the entire environment decorated to resemble a woodland. There’s even a painting of a running elephant on the wall.

Of course, no forest is complete without lions, hippos, and other animals. The wooden lion sculpture is incredibly lifelike, adorned with beautiful patterns that are truly eye-catching.

The spiral slide connecting the first and second floors is the most beloved play facility here for the kids. However, due to safety concerns, someone needs to supervise at all times, so it’s only open for half an hour during each dining session. Announcements are made before it opens and closes.

Dining times are mainly divided into three slots: lunch, afternoon, and dinner, each lasting two and a half hours. But kids eat pretty quickly, so they finish up and run off to play in no time.

Kids’ meals are, of course, a must at family restaurants. There are three options to choose from: scrambled eggs, curry meat patties, and spaghetti bolognese. Though the selection isn’t extensive, these are all dishes kids love.

The chef’s special set meals are all meticulously prepared by the head chef—it’s definitely worth trying if you get the chance.

There are various types of pasta to choose from, including a rare fully vegetarian option. I had risotto at lunch and decided to go for creamy bacon penne with a poached egg for dinner—definitely worth a try.

There are only four types of risotto to choose from, but the most intriguing-sounding one is squid ink risotto with crispy fried squid—it looks quite unique.

There weren’t any particularly special fried dishes this time, so I just stuck with the main courses.

The cute drink menu can be spread out like a fan. Each page is colorfully designed and super appealing to kids. It also clearly lists the ingredients and benefits, which is amazing—imagine all those benefits in one drink. Just looking is enough!

The corner decorations are also brightly colored, with playful animal expressions that are simply adorable.

There are plenty of kids’ chairs stacked in the corner, so no worries about not having enough, no matter how many children come.

The walls are covered with super kawaii designs, adding fun to mealtime.

The seating areas are spaced far apart, creating a comfortable dining environment. The kids run off to the play area and have a blast, while adults can sit back and enjoy a quiet meal. It’s a good idea to place some books or magazines for grown-ups so they don’t get bored.

This toddler crawling area is perfect for little ones. The small slide poses no danger, and adults just need to keep an eye from the outside.

The bookshelf is filled with children’s picture books and an engaging area of educational toys, showing thoughtful consideration for the little ones. No wonder even when it’s time to leave, they don’t want to go.

Kids who love cars will definitely be thrilled to see so many vehicles. For little boys like Vincent, who all love cars, they can zoom around the car track. Though it might feel slightly above their age range, car-loving kids are completely unfazed.

Riding the foot-powered cars isn’t very fast. Though it’s a bit tiring, it’s quite safe as they circle the track over and over.

It’s really rare to see a family restaurant with such a large play area—it really feels like being in an amusement park, where kids can run, jump, and play to their heart’s content.

The pretend play area with props is perfect for little girls, encouraging imagination and creativity through play.

Whether they’re playing house or making pizza, there are plenty of toys provided on-site.

There are a few condiments stored in the cabinet, which can be used to adjust flavors as needed.

There were many photos on the wall of children smiling very happily.

Because the sliding speed is very fast, kids need to wear arm sleeves while playing to avoid arm friction injuries.
The first floor features an oversized ball pit shaped like a pirate ship, where kids run and jump around super happily. It’s surrounded by nets to prevent balls from flying out and hitting people.
There are various physical activity facilities to climb up and down, which are sure to burn off a lot of energy for kids at this age. They usually fall fast asleep after taking a bath in the evening.

The stairwell is decorated with a batch of running horses, creating a space design that feels unpressured and visually relaxing.

Corn chowder (with meal)
My kids all love the corn chowder. The aroma hits you instantly, with a rich scent of corn and milk. It was gone in no time, and even more delicious when dipped with a piece of bread.
The chowder contains quite a lot of ingredients, including corn kernels, onions, and potatoes, along with a strong fresh milk flavor. It’s definitely a chowder that both adults and kids will love.

Healthy Three Vegetables (with meal)
The portion of seafood salad is delicate, with crisp lettuce paired with seafood that’s very appetizing. The whole shrimp, shelled and super springy, are not small in size.

Black tea (with meal)
The black tea has a slightly bitter taste and isn’t very sweet, which doesn’t really appeal to kids.

Cranberry fruit vinegar is great for hot summer days, with a sweet and sour taste that cuts through grease.

Squid risotto with crispy squid $350 /470
As soon as it was served, we were surprised by the crispy squid — the fried squid portion was quite large, and the whole squid placed on top of the black squid rice was super impressive. The crispy squid tube lay whole on the risotto covered in thick squid sauce, but the lack of surrounding garnish felt like something was missing, which could be improved.
The risotto made with real squid ink had a smooth and rich texture. Although your mouth turns completely black after eating, the combination of crispy whole squid with squid ink risotto fills your mouth with the ocean’s umami.

Butter bacon penne with poached egg $240/360
Thick slices of bacon are pan-fried until fragrant, then sautéed with onions, filling the air with aroma. Garlic slices and mini mushrooms are added to the penne along with cream. When the semi-poached egg is broken, the yolk flows over the pasta, creating an incredibly smooth texture that’s just amazing.

Kids’ spaghetti bolognese $240/340
A full kids’ meal includes homemade spaghetti bolognese, paired with seasonal fresh vegetable salad and a glass of orange juice. The portion is a bit small but diverse and rich. Served in cute toy-like tableware, it’s no wonder it’s a favorite with kids.
The spaghetti is generously coated in meat sauce, with both the meat flavor and texture being quite good. The seasoning of the sauce isn’t too heavy, probably tailored to kids’ tastes. Paired with the Q-textured noodles, Vincent finished every last bite.

Angry Birds baked egg $240/360
The baked egg combines a variety of ingredients, including fresh eggs, bell peppers, thick bacon, scallions, and fish sauce, offering rich nutrition. The dish not only has a diverse flavor profile but also an adorable and nutritious appearance.
The presentation of the dish is quite unique, using butter and black olives to make the eyes, plus two pieces of seaweed for eyebrows, perfectly capturing the fun look of Angry Birds. The baking time is just right — the egg part isn’t too dry. Under the thick baked egg is penne in a meat sauce flavor, and every bite delivers a subtle eggy aroma.

The fresh vegetable salad is refreshing and appetizing, but the kids still prefer the baked egg part more.

The half-hour of slide time was up, and Vincent was the first to rush in. He listened carefully to the staff’s safety instructions, because it really is very fast, so safety is especially important.

It’s so fast that there’s barely time to take photos. In the blink of an eye, you’re at the bottom. Especially with a crowd of parents surrounding the exit of the slide, it feels like the parents are more excited than the kids watching them slide.

We ordered four set meals that day for a total of over a thousand five hundred dollars. The price is quite acceptable, considering most of the dining area has been turned into a play zone. The food suits our taste quite well, and the thoughtfulness in the variety really shows. It’s just that the portions are a bit small for adults to feel full, but I do agree this is a fun and delicious family restaurant.
