Tianhe Mountain — China’s Mountain of Love, located in Xingtai City, is the homeland of China’s Qixi Festival culture and the birthplace of the legend of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl. Situated in the greenest part of the Taihang Mountains at the border of Shanxi and Hebei in western Xingtai, Tianhe Mountain covers a total area of 30 square kilometers and is 65 kilometers from Xingtai City. The area enjoys convenient transportation and beautiful scenery along the way. Here, towering peaks rise, deep valleys are serene and steep, vegetation is lush and forests dense, while waterfalls cascade like flying snow and clear springs sing like zithers. The abundant water sources make it a renowned part of the “Taihang Mountain waterscape.” Pine waves rustle and herds of cattle and sheep graze, earning it another name: “Cloudtop Grassland.” Tianhe Mountain Scenic Area is a national 4A-level scenic spot, a key scenic area of Hebei Province, and a geological park of Hebei Province.

Tianhe Mountain Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level scenic spot, a key scenic area of Hebei Province, and a geological park of Hebei Province. The area boasts a rich cultural heritage. As early as the Neolithic Age, humans inhabited the Tianhe Mountain region. During the Spring and Autumn Period, Confucius once traveled and studied here, giving rise to the name “Confucius Rock.” During the Anti-Japanese War, it served as one of the main strongholds of the Eighth Route Army. Revolutionary relics such as the 129th Division Hospital and the Jinnan Bank (the predecessor of the People's Bank of China) remain well preserved to this day. Especially notable is the widespread legend of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl in the Tianhe Mountain area, supported by a wealth of cultural remains. After research by multiple experts, it has been confirmed as the birthplace of the original Cowherd and Weaver Girl story. In 2005, Tianhe Mountain was registered as “China’s Mountain of Love” with the State Administration for Industry and Commerce. In 2006, it was designated as a “Qixi Culture Research Base” by the China Folklore Society and named the “Homeland of China’s Qixi Culture” by the Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association.

It is a shining pearl in the vast Taihang Mountain range. Major attractions include: the Han Dynasty Archway Gate, Lotus Fragrance Garden, Welcome Dam, Tianhe Lake, Tianhe Mountain Villa, Love Square, Mandarin Duck Pool, Ripples Lake, Butterfly Fairy Valley, Snow Drift Lake, Nine Heavens Milky Way, Heaven’s Gate, Green Lotus Pool (pothole), Water Lily Pool, Lovers’ Valley, Cowherd Village, Immortal Peak, Magpie Bridge, Moon Elder Peak, Madonna Temple, Confucius Rock, Cloudtop Grassland, the World’s No.1 Female Deity, and the Taihang Macaque Park, among dozens of other sites. Additionally, the Ancient Chinese Love Culture Museum has also opened to visitors.

Tianhe Mountain features the largest outdoor adventure training base in northern China and the steepest canyon rafting project in North China. The rafting here, known for its significant drop, rapid currents, and thrilling excitement, is hailed as the “No.1 Couple Rafting in China.”

Mr. Yang Liangcai, an expert from UNESCO, remarked after visiting Tianhe Mountain: “Such scenery belongs in heaven — how did it end up in Xingtai?” Perhaps the captivating love story of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl could only unfold in this paradise as breathtakingly beautiful as Tang poetry and Song lyrics.
