Wanbang Exotic Fruit Garden
Wanbang Exotic Fruit Garden
Situated in the ecological sightseeing area, it was invested with 13.8 million yuan. Using local red sandstone slabs, 82,688 m³ of cement-mortared soil-retaining walls were constructed, and 50 hectares of high-standard terraced fields were developed. The site features 26,698 trees of premium foreign fruit varieties, complemented by beautification and greening belts as well as water-saving irrigation facilities such as sprinklers and micro-sprinklers. It is one of the designated fruit-picking areas for visitors.
Kangda Stele Forest Located on the northern side of the middle section of Yingjie Ridge within the park, it was built in May 2006. Covering an area of 1,500 m², the stele forest houses over 100 stone tablets. These include inscriptions and mottos for the Kangda (Chinese People's Anti-Japanese Military and Political University) written by proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation such as Mao Zedong, as well as inscriptions from leaders of later generations. There are also plaques inscribed by veteran students and generals of Kangda.
Science and Technology Stele Forest Located within Wanbang Exotic Fruit Garden. Established in 2004, it covers an area of 1,500 m² and features over 60 stone tablets. The theme is “The Taihang Mountain Path.” It mainly consists of summaries by national leaders such as Li Peng and Song Jian, as well as provincial and ministerial-level officials and experts, regarding the Qiannanyu experience of “managing the mountains through science, developing the Taihang region, and benefiting local communities.”
Children’s Calligraphy Stele Forest Located on both sides of the road between Ze Hou Pavilion and Lian Dan Gorge, it displays over 120 stone tablets. These were inscribed by 120 children aged 6–12 from the Kangda Enlightenment Academy, who used brush and regular script to write poems praising the magnificent landscapes of the motherland.
War Preparedness Facilities Located at the foot of Wanshou Peak within the park, these were built between 1969 and 1971. They served as wartime military command posts during the Cold War. The facilities are mainly divided into underground and above-ground sections. The above-ground part primarily includes a canteen, dormitories, water supply, power supply, garages, and warehouses, all built within dense forests. The underground section mainly comprises meeting rooms, combat command facilities, as well as canteens, dormitories, water supply, and power supply systems. The connection between the above-ground and underground parts is separated by two blast-proof doors designed to guard against atomic and radiation threats.
Ze Hou Pavilion Located at the top of Wanbang Exotic Fruit Garden, it was originally built in 1980 and renovated in 2004. The octagonal pavilion has a reinforced concrete structure with glazed tile roofing. It witnessed the glorious journey of the people of Qiannanyu, under the leadership of Guo Chengzhi—a National People's Congress deputy, National Model Worker, and village Party secretary—as they engaged in afforestation, scientific mountain management, and their “second venture.” Today, standing beneath the pavilion and facing the majestic green mountains while looking out over the vast landscape, one cannot help but be moved. Their great achievements not only benefited their contemporaries but also left a lasting legacy for future generations.
