Hanpo Ridge

On Hanpo Ridge stands a square pavilion, which is the famous "Wangpo Pavilion," the best spot on Mount Lu to watch the sunrise. Visitors climb up to Wangpo Pavilion in the faint morning light and gaze into the horizon, where the sky is just beginning to turn pale. Soon, the sky over Poyang Lake glows with golden rays and purple clouds rise. Suddenly, the sun bursts forth from the misty lake surface, dyeing the blue sky, green waters, nearby mountains, and distant ridges in brilliant hues — a truly spectacular sight.

To the west of Hanpo Mouth is the famous glacial horn "Litoujian," opposite lies Mount Lu’s highest peak, "Hanyang Peak." To the north is the second highest peak of Mount Lu, "Dayue Mountain," and to the south is the third highest peak, "Wulao Peak." At the foot of the mountain lies China’s largest freshwater lake, "Poyang Lake."

Hanpo Mouth, at an elevation of 1,286 meters, is a massive gap formed by Hanpo Ridge and the opposite Hanyang Peak. It appears as if it could swallow the entire Poyang Lake at the mountain’s base in one gulp, hence its name.

Transportation

As a secondary attraction on Mount Lu, it is generally best to visit by taxi or private car. Sharing a rental car with others is the most economical option.
