"The wonder of Mount Kuanglu surpasses all mountains under heaven." Mount Lu is a world-renowned mountain that combines grandeur, strangeness, danger, and beauty. It is also a sacred cultural mountain that embodies scenery, culture, religion, education, and politics. Throughout history, countless poets and scholars have climbed Mount Lu, singing praises of its enchanting natural landscapes and rich cultural heritage, leaving behind tens of thousands of poems and verses. These timeless lines, intimately tied to Mount Lu, have become classics in Chinese literary history—like slow fire simmering through the mountain, leaving behind a civilization’s ever-enduring spark.
Mount Lu offers scenic views in all four seasons, with landscapes that vary remarkably: In spring, there are lush green trees and secluded flowers, with moss creeping up the steps; in summer, there are evening tides accompanied by rain, with mist and clouds filling every valley; in autumn, the high mountains are veiled in light clouds, with autumn waters mirroring the blue sky; in winter, frosted forests and snowy grasses create a world dressed in silver. Each of its peaks has its own distinctive character—the Hanpo Ridge resembles a fish’s backbone, majestic, magnificent, thick with clouds and fog, vast and boundless, with momentum like galloping horses or coiling dragons, standing as a screen boundary on Mount Lu’s southeastern side. The Five Elders Peak features a terrain that is grand, steep, and precipitous, rooted to Poyang Lake, with the tips of its five peaks touching the sky—it looks, when viewed from below, like five elderly men sitting cross-legged on the ground. The waters of Mount Lu are also uniquely beautiful—the Three-Step Waterfall is described as follows: "The upper tier drifts like clouds trailing silk ribbons, the middle tier crashes like shattered rocks crushing ice, and the lower tier races like a jade dragon skimming the pool." Ancient scholars said: "The green pines of Mount Tai, the cloud-kissing ridges of Mount Hua, the sea of clouds of Mount Huang, and the waterfalls of Mount Kuanglu are collectively known as the most spectacular sights in the land." Mirror-like Mirror Lake is shaped like a musical instrument, its waters clear and pristine, featuring curved bridges, pavilions, and flower-lined paths that captivate the heart. On Mount Lu, nature and human craftsmanship have merged into a grand harmony. If Sima Qian’s Records of the Grand Historian unfolds the long scroll of Mount Lu’s human history, then masters such as Wu Daozi, Tang Yin, Shi Tao, Zhou Dunyi, Wang Anshi, and Zhu Xi are the painters and calligraphers of that scroll. Through the passage of history, a mountain embodying the great spiritual world of a nation has risen layer upon layer.
In 2012, to further promote Mount Lu nationwide and showcase its beauty through the art of photography, the Administrative Bureau of Mount Lu Scenic Area in Jiangxi Province and the China Photographers Association jointly organized, with Beijing China Celebrity International PR Planning Co., Ltd. as the executive organizer, the 2012 National Photographic Art Exhibition "Dream of Mount Lu, Sentiment of China." Photographers, photography enthusiasts, and netizens from home and abroad are cordially invited to pick up their cameras and capture her natural beauty, historical depth, and cultural charm through the lens.
