Great Han Yang Peak is located in the southern part of Mount Lu, approximately twenty kilometers from Guling Street. Visitors can reach the peak by taking a bus from Guling to the Mount Lu TV Station, and then hiking up mountain trails to the summit.

Great Han Yang Peak is the main peak of Mount Lu, standing at an elevation of 1,474 meters. With its lofty terrain and summit that seems to touch the sky, visitors who make it to the top can look down upon the surrounding peaks as if they were small, and gaze far toward the cities along the river and Han River. The shimmering waters on all sides and the countless layers of mountain hues come together like a breathtaking natural rock-and-water miniature landscape. Towering and graceful, Great Han Yang Peak resembles a sky-piercing green lotus blossom blooming within this landscape. The Qing Dynasty poet Cao Longshu praised the peak in his poem “Han Yang Peak”: “A towering screen in the southeast, a lotus bloom planted atop. Shimmering waters encircle on all sides, myriad peaks rise against the sky. The sun pauses slowly overhead, while clouds hasten below. Here, the world holds no barriers—gaze from afar upon Penglai in the sea.” Modern visitors often say, “Visiting Mount Lu without ascending Great Han Yang Peak is like not having visited Mount Lu at all.”

At the summit of Great Han Yang Peak, there still remains a stone-built “Han King Terrace.” Legend has it that during a great flood that reached the heavens, when all of Mount Lu was submerged, only this peak remained above the water, where the Han King took refuge. According to ancient tales, “on clear, moonlit nights with gentle breezes, one can see the lights of Han Yang from here,” hence it is also called “Han Yang Terrace.” The name “Han Yang Peak” is derived from this as well.

To the east of Han Yang Terrace stands a stone pillar of the main peak, inscribed with four large characters: “Great Han Yang Peak.” In front of Han Yang Terrace is a cliff face shaped like an armchair, known as “Yu Wang Cliff.” Legend says that when Yu the Great was controlling the floods, he sat here watching the rising waters and contemplating how to “dredge the nine rivers.”
