Heavenly Bridge of Mount Lu

The Heavenly Bridge of Mount Lu is situated in the Splendid Valley. Legend has it that Zhu Yuanzhang and Chen Youliang battled fiercely on Poyang Lake. Following Zhu’s defeat, he was compelled to take refuge on Mount Lu, leading his few remaining soldiers in a chaotic retreat to the edge of a cliff. With a deep chasm below, no escape route ahead, and enemies in pursuit, disaster seemed imminent—until, suddenly, a golden dragon descended from the sky and turned into a rainbow bridge. Zhu’s troops had just crossed to safety when a thunderous clap of lightning split the sky, the dragon vanished, and the bridge collapsed, leaving behind the miraculous sight known today as the Heavenly Bridge. Later, after Zhu Yuanzhang became emperor, this beautiful legend has been passed down through generations. Later generations built a huge overhanging rock at the base of the gorge upstream. Visitors can crouch or stand at the front edge of the rock, using the distant cliff as a backdrop. Thanks to an optical illusion, they can take a dramatic “Heavenly Bridge photo” that appears thrillingly precarious.
