Zijin Mountain Scenic Area

Zijin Mountain Scenic Area is located in Qianping Village, Bai’an Township, Xingtai County. It is 66 kilometers east of downtown Xingtai and can be directly accessed via the provincial highway Xingtai–Zuoquan (X-Z Road), making transportation convenient.

The scenic area covers an area of 28 square kilometers, situated in the central section of the main range of the Taihang Mountains, at the junction of Xingtai, Wu’an, and Zuoquan counties across Shanxi and Hebei provinces. It features a typical northern mountainous peak-forest landform. With high mountains, dense forests, beautiful waters, and serene valleys, it boasts a vast area, favorable climate, diverse terrain, and picturesque landscapes. The natural ecology is outstanding. Historical records indicate that Liu Bingzhong, a key strategist of Kublai Khan, studied here in his youth along with Zhang Wenqian, Zhang Yi, Wang Xun, and Guo Shoujing at Dripping Water Gully in this region. During the War of Resistance against Japan, the supply department of the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army and the currency printing factory of the Jinnan Bank were also stationed here. Ruins from that time still remain.

The scenic area is divided into four zones along its course: Jiuliwan Zone (central zone), Dripping Water Gully Zone (eastern zone), Qingsongling Zone (western zone), and Zhen Gongya Zone (northern zone). Each zone has its own strengths and distinctive features. Jiuliwan offers deep gorges with flowing streams, Dripping Water Gully features calm lakes and cascading waterfalls, Qingsongling is alive with the sound of pine waves, and Zhen Gongya is rich in traditional folk beliefs. There are currently over 90 scenic spots, making it an ideal destination for tourism and vacation, adventure and exploration, historical visits and scientific research,

health and wellness, as well as socializing and romance.
