Xiaoxitian Scenic Area The Xiaoxitian Scenic Area is located 40 kilometers southwest of Xingtai City, adjacent to the shimmering Zhu Zhuang Reservoir (also known as Yingxue Lake), where mountain scenery and water blend seamlessly. The area spans 40 square kilometers for exploration, with its main peak, Dingmei Mountain, rising 1,089 meters above sea level. The mountain features uniquely beautiful and towering peaks, piercing the sky. As the saying goes, "Thunder roars beneath the cliffs, and rain begins halfway up the mountain," highlighting its notable relative elevation. Xiaoxitian is also commonly known as Grandma’s Peak. The mountain is home to several temples and shrines, including the Bixia Yuanjun Temple, which attract many worshippers. The scenic area offers picturesque views all year round—lush green in spring, serene in summer, vibrant red in autumn, and snow-covered in winter. Highlights on the mountain include ancient trees that appear to bleed, giant hairy rocks, and the welcoming monk statue, known as the “Three Wonders of the North.” Below the mountain lies Yingxue Lake (with a water storage capacity of over 700 million cubic meters and a dam base over 150 meters high), whose waters stretch for miles and are dotted with 17 peninsulas and isolated islands, making it an ideal spot for leisure, entertainment, and water sports. The lake’s nearby hot springs contain various trace elements beneficial to human health and are known for their therapeutic effects.
