The Sandongkou Scenic Area is located at the foot of the West Sea Scenic Area and is a valley area between Sanqingshan and Huaiyu Mountain. It mainly includes three natural villages: Baji Village, Shanghuangdan Village, and Xiahuangdan Village. Among them, Shanghuangdan Village has an ancient mountain path leading directly to the Tiyunling Scenic Area. This scenic area boasts outstanding water resource landscapes, with the highlight being the Eighteen Dragon Pools Waterfall Cluster in Baji Village, where there are numerous pools and waterfalls with extremely clear water. This area was also a revolutionary site of the Red Army's Northern Expeditionary Advance Detachment during the War of Resistance against Japan. Additionally, it is home to Sanqingshan’s only mandarin duck nature reserve. Visiting Baji Village to see the mandarin ducks in autumn and winter is an unexpected delight for travelers to Sanqingshan. The nearby Baji Village and Huangdan Natural Village are among the few hidden paradises in Sanqingshan.

The Sandongkou Scenic Area is located in the western part of Nanshan, west of the Tiyunling Scenic Area, and is a deep valley-dominated scenic area in the heart of Sanqingshan. Its scope extends from Tiyunling westward into Feixian Valley, passing through Xianqiaodun, Qiongtai Langyuan, Sandongkou, and reaching FenShuiguan.

Feixian Valley is the largest and deepest gorge in Sanqingshan, stretching from Sandongkou in the west to Jiutian Yingyuan Fu in the east. It is a deep valley separating Nanshan and Beishan. The valley features complex terrain, crisscrossing gullies, bizarre rocks, eerie caves, and a landscape that is both mysterious and breathtakingly beautiful. Shortly after entering Xian Valley from Tiyunling, you’ll find “Xianqiaodun,” also known as “Erqiaodun,” standing at 1,300 meters high, adjacent to “QiongTai” and facing Yuhua Peak from afar. Legend has it that ancient immortals once attempted to build a “heavenly bridge” here to connect Yuhua Peak and link Nanshan with Beishan, but the plan was never realized—hence the name. “QiongTai” is a high-altitude mountain platform at 1,570 meters above sea level, surrounded by steep cliffs. On the platform, twisted pines hang upside down, and ancient vines dangle low, offering views of wonders such as “Three Yangs Opening the Tai,” “Jade Screen Standing Tall,” and “Purple Bamboo Piercing the Sky.” To its southwest, peaks are surrounded by oddly shaped rocks, rare trees, and exotic flowers spread across the mountainside, resembling a celestial garden in the mountains—thus named “QiongTai Langyuan.”

“Sandongkou” is located in the western part of Feixian Valley and features three cave entrances with perilous and spectacular scenery. The first cave entrance resembles a tiger’s mouth and is called “Laohukou” (Tiger Mouth); the second resembles an ancient well, with caves within caves, giving off a very eerie vibe, and is named “Youming Dong” (Dark Cave); the third resembles a grand hall—tall, wide, but with an extremely treacherous path—and is called “Guimen Guan” (Ghost Gate Pass). All three cave entrances are extremely challenging and are among the many thrilling and perilous wonders of Feixian Valley.

FenShuiguan is located on the western foothills of Sanqingshan and serves as the western entrance to the mountain. Situated at a strategic mountain pass on both sides of the river, it features a fortress-style structure. The area is lush with trees, layered terraced fields, meandering clear streams, and a tranquil environment. To its north lies FenShui Village, which is connected by road to Dexing. To its south is Hengdan Village, near attractions such as the Bazhai Dragon Pools Waterfall, Longyin Rock, and Huanzhu Cave. There is a road leading to Shangrao. Near FenShuiguan, beneath the Jingang Peak, the Song Dynasty Neo-Confucian scholar Zhu Xi once lectured here, and the Huaoyu Academy was built—an ancient site that still remains today.
