Snow has fallen on Yushan Mountain ! A cold front has brought snowfall during the mountain’s quiet season.

Thanks to the dual influence of a strong continental cold air mass and moisture from the cloud and rain zone over southern China, the entire Taiwan region is experiencing cold and wet weather. The high peak of Taiwan, Yushan, has also seen snowfall again, with an accumulation of up to five centimeters, further blanketing Yushan in a vast snowy landscape.

Due to the snowfall brought by the cold front, with snow accumulation of nearly five centimeters, the walking paths have become slippery due to ice formation caused by the low temperatures, especially in the windy gravel slope areas where the risk is even higher. To allow the ecosystem of the Yushan area to rest and recover, reduce the impact of mountaineering and recreational activities on the natural ecology and environment, and lower the risks associated with climbing in snowy conditions, Yushan recently announced that from February 1 to February 28, a one-month quiet period will be implemented in the Yushan area, during which entry activities on the Yushan Main and Peak Trails will be suspended.

With the arrival of the cold front, many high mountains have begun to see snowfall.
