Jinsha Cableway

The Jinsha Cableway of Mount Sanqing is located in Jinsha, eastern Mount Sanqing, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site and a National Key Scenic Area in Shangrao, Jiangxi Province. It is a leading enterprise on Mount Sanqing and the first '5S' cableway in Jiangxi Province. The lower station of the cableway is situated in Jinsha, the largest tourism service reception area on Mount Sanqing, while the upper station is just a 30-minute journey from the core attraction of Mount Sanqing, the "Goddess of the East."

Due to the large size of Mount Sanqing and most of its famous landscapes being located on the mountain, taking the cableway saves considerable energy and time. The two cableways serve as the main entrances to Mount Sanqing, so visitor service centers and parking lots are available near both. Hotels and guesthouses are also relatively concentrated around the lower and upper cableway stations. The cableway is 2,460 meters long, with its upper station located near the southern part of the Nanshengyuan Scenic Area, close to the "Goddess of the East" attraction. It provides quick access to two major attractions: the Goddess Peak and the Giant Python Emerging from the Mountain. From the viewing platform, the left leads to the Azalea Valley and Yutai area, while the right leads to the East Coast and West Coast areas.

The upper station of the Jinsha Cableway is located on a slope 480 meters northeast and 164 meters below the "Goddess Peak." The horizontal distance of the cableway line is 2,460.43 meters, with an elevation difference of 889.5 meters. The cableway uses equipment manufactured by Doppelmayr, one of the world’s leading cableway producers, based in Austria. There are 19 steel structure supports along the route, with a total of 42 cabins. The cableway employs an advanced single-loop detachable 8-person cabin system. It operates at a speed of 6 meters per second, with a one-way travel time of 7.35 minutes and a transport capacity of 1,200 people per hour. The distance between cabins is 142 meters.

Advantages of the Jinsha Cableway: Prime location and convenient transportation. The Jinsha Cableway is situated in the Jinsha Service Area in eastern Mount Sanqing, which is also the necessary route to Wuyuan. For travelers planning to visit both Mount Sanqing and Wuyuan, the Jinsha Cableway is the top choice. Near the Jinsha Cableway entrance, along the mountain-looping highway, there are buses from Yushan to Wuyuan.

Traveling to Wuyuan from the southern part of Mount Sanqing is more complicated—you need to take a bus back to Zihu Town first, then transfer to a bus to Wuyuan. This transfer bus also passes through the eastern Jinsha Service Area. Therefore, going to Wuyuan from Jinsha saves a lot of trouble, with the two service areas being about a half-hour drive apart.

Mount Sanqing has two cableways: one is the Outer Shuangxi Cableway in southern Mount Sanqing, and the other is the Jinsha Cableway located in the eastern Jinsha Service Area. The round-trip fare for both cableways is 125 yuan. It’s important to note that all the core attractions of Mount Sanqing are located on the mountain, and a full loop of the mountain takes about six hours of walking. If you waste your energy climbing up the mountain, you’ll arrive exhausted, making the rest of your visit much more difficult.

Therefore, taking the cableway up Mount Sanqing is definitely a smart choice. These two cableways are operated by two different companies, with the same price, equipment, speed, and passenger capacity. The only difference is that the two cableways are not interconnected, and the scenery you see while riding differs.
